A Unique Experience

Del Mar Rendezvous serves contemporary fare, featuring dishes from many regions of China and select Asian countries. Fusing traditional Chinese cooking with modern presentation and the best flavors Asia has to offer, our kitchen uses prime ingredients to create unique selections sure to appeal to all of your senses. With nearly every seat in the restaurant capturing a glimpse of the Pacific Ocean, our calming and pleasant décor makes Del Mar Rendezvous the perfect location for your next rendezvous. After enjoying the ocean view, many of our guests love glancing into our open kitchen or through the glass viewing walls bordering our kitchen, where we offer the unique opportunity to see your food prepared right before your eyes. But don't look too long or you may end up wanting to order everything on the menu!

Background

Del Mar Rendezvous is a family owned and operated restaurant.  It represents the sixth restaurant opened by Executive Chef Mark Sun in his forty-year restaurant career.  All six locations (and a seventh new restaurant) are still thriving to this day.  Mark’s family has been in the restaurant industry for three generations, with his ancestors cooking for the Chinese emperors in the 19th century.

Mark opened Del Mar Rendezvous one year after his first failed attempt at retirement.  Fortunately for our guests, the idea spawned from Mark’s frustration with current Asian food trends and a lack of quality alternatives in the Chinese and Asian Fusion markets.  Mark’s concept behind the restaurant was to take old world Chinese and Asian recipes and modernize them using his creativity, attention to presentation, and use of the freshest and highest quality ingredients available.

When you come into Del Mar Rendezvous you will be greeted by either Susie, Mark’s wife, or Dan, the son of one of Mark’s restaurant partners. In the kitchen, Mark works with his nephew Tony, personally trained by Mark for several years.  Along with two other Chinese chefs, the kitchen's combined experience in Asian cooking spans over a century.  The staff preparing and serving your food have been together for all five years of the restaurant’s existence. The consistently high quality of food and service reflects the long-time experience and dedication of every member of the Rendezvous family.
