A Unique Experience

From the creator of the famous Dumpling Inn on Convoy Street, Del Mar Rendezvous has been enticing San Diegans with its wide array of Chinese fare complimented by a modern mix of Asian flavors since it's founding in 2004. Rendezvous boasts over 25 local, import and craft beers, 6 Japanese sakes, in addition to an award-winning list of over 110 wines. Beers and sakes are offered at half-price on Tuesdays, wines half-price by the bottle on Wednesdays and Sundays. All sakes, wines, and beers are also available for take-out everyday at half-price. With over 100 different dishes on its menu, Rendezvous also caters to both gluten-free and vegetarian guests with over 40 dedicated options to choose from on each menu.  The newly remodeled interior and extended patio, with glimpses of the Pacific Ocean, offer a calming and inviting atmosphere, perfect for date nights, business lunches or family dinners.  

Our Chefs


Del Mar Rendezvous represents the fourth San Diego restaurant opened by former Executive Chef Mark Sun in his forty-year restaurant career.  All four locations (and a fifth new restaurant) are still thriving to this day.  Mark’s family has been in the restaurant industry for three generations, with his ancestors cooking for the Chinese emperors in the 19th century.

Mark opened Del Mar Rendezvous one year after his first failed attempt at retirement.  Fortunately for our guests, the idea spawned from Mark’s frustration with current Asian food trends and a lack of quality alternatives in the higher-end Chinese arena.  Mark’s concept behind the restaurant was to take old world Chinese and Asian recipes and modernize them using his creativity, attention to presentation, and use of the freshest and highest quality ingredients available.

Mark and Susie, the original husband and wife team that opened the restaurant in 2004 with some friends have moved on to open Khan's Cave Grill & Tavern. In 2011 they passed the restaurant onto their Nephew, Chef Tony, and one of their friend's sons, Dan. It is Tony's and Dan's mission to continue the wonderful tradition that Mark and Susie began of providing the restaurant's guests with consistently great food, friendly service, and the perfect place to "rendezvous" with friends and family. By the way, if you are wondering why the name "Rendezvous" for a Chinese restaurant please feel free to ask - it's a great story!
